Compagnie des Perspectives
2016
Traveling Abroad to see a festival of art performances, comedians, plays, and everything from big to small. They filled every nook in bars as well as theaters with events, where artists took up space to present themes across the board. They presented programs that were free, the schedule of performances spanned the entire day and night, and The Edinburgh International Festival brought crowds to the city with so many extraordinary performers and artists, and audiences have all this content to pick up from all types of genre, modes of performance, and scenery from companies from all over the world.

The Empire Builders

Theater Hayal Perdesi, set design by Sven Jonke, Director Aleksandar Popovski

National Theatre of Scotland
The catalogue of performances across the festival in Edinburgh brings such a big change to the local urban setting. That locals witness the crowds double or, even triple the usual population.

The Glass Menagerie on the National Theater stage was the darkest play in my experience of drawing performances. The spot light on the stage was like a shooting star, the story of Laura and Tom, their mother Amanda Wingfield in their St. Louis apartment. Shot down dreams, and the social immobility make it impossible to escape the reality of identity and status in society. Besides the love for Amanda’s family and desire for greatness, there is alcoholism and a physical disability, and an absent father that we witness in navigating the imagination of Laura’s child like allure.

The darkness of a Tennessee Williams play, took on the oeuvre for the playwright in the genre of the modern realist stage. The characters, the movement, and multi-media productions translate to a mode. In sketches here on after the affect, show symbolic value to develop the detail.

Following the Influence for our purpose of none but intentions to draw from observation inside the theater. I was unaware of what was to become of the medium. The repertoire should be contributed to the philosophy of Katherine Weber, a modern philosopher who showed me the way into this world of imagination I would surpass by going to draw from the theater. She studied at the Duquesne University, a doctoral candidate at the time who led a philosophical-art investigation into a selection of spectacle, question of vulgar or moral, and by absurdism or classical design.

The message from programs following a zeitgeist into the next show sketches seemed like a linear path along the lines of Content and Articles. Sometimes, character scenes reappear in symbols that read differently in other titles from another show. Recasting the light to means that fell the story of their character addresses the different modes of communication on stage.

After Returning From Being Abroad
Philadelphia Fringe Festival 2016
Silken Veils by Leila Ghaznavi
Philadelphia Fringe Festival has the most diverse arts, internationally, and communal collection of an artist showcase. They rise to the occasion for a catalogue of extraordinary happenings in Philadelphia. Silken Veils, by Leila Ghaznavi was in the poetic imagined rehtoric, of a Persian poem of war through Rumi’s poetry about the Persian Empire, womanhood, and a relationship behind closed doors. A relationship with Persian history, of a family, and a childhood, and the pressures of adulthood. An imagined staging for the poetry through puppetry, and shadow work.

Drowning Ophelia
Ensemble Atria & EagerRisk
A reflection on trauma, imagined or real. a nightmare and a tragic comedy
Rachel Luann Strayer, playwright gave us a fairy tale, like none other, from the imagination and grief from prior abuse, which reappears like in a fairy tale, the trauma is unforeseeable. From the perspective of a confessional, a bad dream, and other realms of our consciousness.

Julius Caesar: Spare Parts
Romeo Castelluci, tells the story of Caesar in unorthodox play between the body, and all consuming sense of drama.

A Reimagined Classic
Romeo Castelluci entered into my work of illustrating performances under the most cathartic effect. Without presumptions, unprecariously sharing the elements of the well known Shakespearean tale of Julius Caesar in the most unlikely MODE.

Speech

Julius Caesar: Spare Parts
A horse shits on stage.

Set
Situated at the Navy base, in a large empty warehouse in South Philadelphia.

Caesar
The physicality of entering the body through the esophagus and the power of communication.
