audience reviews

The show sketches bring the stage to hand drawn renderings of the choreography. They investigate the themes which interest those surrounding the dance. My observation of the piece, The Little Prince adapted to ballet for characters, naturally in-and-outs around the imagination of the boy from Asteroid B12. The most meaningful moments given to translation are about the transformation between physical and symbolic dance. As the adventure takes us into the imagination, describing the ensemble dancers in the wreckage, the garden, and movement to behold the box- the sheep inside of the box.
The drawings bring forth a new reading of the ballet, the ballet around the Little Prince and the Pilot, and the constant presence of the Snake makes the illustrations of a certain story, a certain character- which made this dance difficult to capture in such a whirlwind of dancers on stage.

WHYSEEART
Choreography by Barcelona-based Cayetano Soto in 2018, was unforgettable for its use of tricycles, illuminated ticker signs., and dancers wearing kilts. Ballet X since then has celebrated its 10th Anniversary Season with some incredible storytelling through choreographic works of notable artists.

The Drunkard
The Little Prince A Children’s book adapted to ballet for Annabelle Lopez Ochoa means to introduce the many personalities the Little Prince comes across, holds our focus until… INTERMISSION. The snake, the Pilot crashes in the desert.

“HELLO? WHO ARE YOU?”WHERE ARE YOU?” .

by Marguerite Donlon
A long with Cayetano Soto we saw a piece about the Titanic, a survivor, and the family lineage of this choreographer, Marguerite Donjon. It is extra contextual information that goes into reading modern dance, such as Hellmut Fricke-Gottschild’s influence in Philadelphia for Nicolo Fonte’s ballet, Beautiful Decay, or the story of Marguerite Donlon’s grand-aunt Kate Gilnhoagh.
